Highland Dance Games

Athena Caledonian Games - Back in 1899-1914, trainloads of people came to Athena to celebrate those of Scottish heritage in the area. In 1970s the games were revived. Annual weekend event includes sheep dog trials, vendors, bagpipers, parade, Scottish dancing, harpists and storytellers, and athletic competitions.

Caledonian Club, Scottish Highland Gathering and Games - The Highland Gathering and Games features caber tossing, birds of prey, highland dancing, sheep dog trials, living history, bagpipe and drumming competitions, the gathering of the clans, and the massed bands: almost one thousand musicians playing together.

Canmore Highland Games - Games feature Highland dancing, pipes and drums, Scottish athletics, and a ceilidh, including Scottish Country Dancing and Irish step dancing. Site has information about Scottish heavy athletics, including rules, as well as links. Games were established in 1991 and are held in early September.

Cambridge Highland Games
- Contains entry forms and brief essays on Highland dancing, Highland athletics, and a history of the Cambridge games. Games feature grade 1 pipe bands. Established in 1976 and held annually in July in Cambridge, Ontario.

Celtfest Callander - Held annually in early June since 2001 in Callender, Ontario, the Games feature   pipes and drums, Highland dancing, Scottish athletics, a ceilidh, sheep dogs, and step dancing. Site also has photos.

City of Inverness Highland Games - Traditional Scottish Highland Games event. Athletics, caber tossing, country dancing, bagpipes, and spectacular jet aircraft events.

Cobourg Highland Games
- Over four decades-old Games features a ceilidh, downtown parade, Celtic entertainment, over 100 pipers, dancers, Highland athletes, and Scottish animals. Site has information about heavy athletic events and dances. Held annually in June in Cobourg, Ontario.

Columbus Scottish Festival - A September weekend of Scottish dancing, bagpipes, sheep dog trails, and clans.

Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games
- Games feature clans, pipes and drums, dancing, athletics, history, tattoo, genealogy, a Burns supper, and a 10 K run. Site has past results and general information about the Games now entering their sixth decade and held annually in August in Fergus, Ontario.

Gathering of the Scots - Held in late May in Perth-Andover, New Brunswick, the Games feature a kilted golf tournament, Scottish athletic workshops, Celtic music and cultural workshops, a ceilidh, clan tents, Highland dancing, pipe bands, and athletic competition. Site also has photos from past events. 

Georgetown Highland Games - Games include Highland dancing (over 400 dancers), pipes and drums (over 20 pipe bands), athletics, and clans. Entry forms on site. Games are over 30 years running, held in June in Georgetown, Ontario.

Geelong Highland Gathering - Scottish festival held at Queens Park started in 1857, with pipe bands, dancing, heavy games, dog show and stalls. Photos, history and committee.

Glengarry Highland Games
- Games feature professional athletes, over two dozen pipe bands, and hundreds of Highland dancers. Site has photos, entry forms, and results of past events. Held annually in August for nearly 6 decades in Maxville, Ontario.

Grandfather Mountain Highland Games, Inc. - Presenting the annual Grandfather Mountain Highland Games and Gathering of Scottish Clans, to foster and restore interest in traditional dancing, piping, athletic achievement and Gaelic culture, and to create and establish scholarship funds to assist North American students of Scottish ancestry.

Haliburton Highland Games - Founded in 1989, the Haliburton Games are held in July of each year in Haliburton Village, Ontario. Games feature Scottish Country Dancing, pipes and drums, Highland dancing, Scottish athletics, clan tents and sheep dogs.

Halifax Highland Games and Scottish Festival - The Games are the centre-piece of a multi-day celebration of Scottish cultural heritage and feature Scottish Country dancing, crafts and Celtic wares, genealogy, clan tents, and a kilted golf tournament. Held annually in Halifax in early July.

Hamilton Highland Games
- Games include dancing, pipes and drums (including grade 1 pipe bands), athletics, and clan tents. The 2006 games will host the Canadian Pipe Band Championships. Site has schedule of events and results. Held in June in Hamilton, Ontario.

Highlands of Durham Games - Games feature heather ball, golf tournament, 10 K run in addition to Scottish events, ceilidh, tattoo, clans, pipes and drums, dancing, athletics, and Scottish animals. Held annually since 1996 in July in Uxbridge, Ontario.

Highlands and Islands Music and Dance Festival - Annual weekend of competitions and events in Oban, celebrating highland and Scottish country dancing, traditional music and song. Includes programme and information for competitors.

High River Highland Games
- Games feature pipes and drums, dancing, Scottish athletics, herding dogs, and an on-site ceilidh. Site has entry forms, results of past competitions. Attracts about 2000 spectators to August event in High River, Alberta. 

Kincardine Scottish Festival and Highland Games - Features a ceilidh, Celtic music, pipes and drums, dancing, athletes, and clans. Site also has photos from previous years' events. Held in late June/early July in Kincardine, Ontario.

Manitoba Highland Gathering - Pipe band competition, highland dancing, piping, drumming, heavy games, sheep shearing, and a Scottish pub.

Montreal Highland Games - The Montreal Games offers professional level piping and drumming with 40 to 50 pipe bands, as well as Highland dancing, Scottish athletics, and Celtic entertainment. Held annually in August in Montreal, Quebec.

North Lanark Highland Games - Event features over 20 pipe bands, 100+ Highland dancers, Scottish athletics, and draws over 6000 visitors. Site has results and photos from past events. Established in 1984, held annually in August in Almonte, Ontario.

Penticton Highland Games - One-day Highland Games event in late June or early July, established in 1975 and held annually in Penticton, BC. There will be a ceilidh, Celtic concert, Professional and grade 1 pipe bands and piobareachd, Highland dancing, Scottish athletes. Site has a history of the Penticton Highland Games.

San Diego Scottish Highland Games - An educational, non-profit organization performing highland games which includes dancing, bagpiping and drumming.

Sarnia Highland Games - Held annually in August for over 20 years in Sarnia, Ontario. Games include a ceilidh, over a dozen pipe bands, dancing, athletics. Site has registration forms and results from past events.

Seattle Scottish Highland Games Association, Inc. - Non-profit group stimulating interest in Scottish dancing, piping, drumming, and athletics.

Tartan Sertoma Highland Games - Full Highland Games with Highland dancing, Scottish athletics, 20-24 pipe bands, a ceilidh, and Celtic entertainment. Held annually beginning in 1990 in July in Chatham, Ontario, Canada.

Veterans Memorial Highland Games - Games were established in 2004 and are held in June in Spencerville, Ontario. Full Highland games features in excess of 10 pipe bands, Highland dancing and Scottish athletics. Site features past results, photos, and articles on various aspects of the Games and associated competitions.

Virginia Scottish Games - VSGA celebrates Alexandria's Scottish Heritage with Scottish athletics, dancing, music, crafts, food and other Scottish events.
